Slagel Family Farm is a fifth-generation livestock farm in central Illinois. LouisJohn Slagel, his wife Leslie and many family members are all involved in the day to day operations on the farm, located only a mile away from the original Slagel settlement dating back to 1888. The farm is similar to how their grandparents farmed, which means instead of building large high-tech factory farms, they raise livestock the good old-fashioned way. They run a small, diversified farm raising hogs, cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits, corn, soybeans, hay, and pumpkins. Slagel Family Farm controls every aspect of the operation from breeding and genetics to the feed rations fed to the livestock.
Not only does Slagel Family Farm have a variety of wonderful meat products to offer you, they also own their own USDA inspected processing facility and can ensure quality all the way to your table. Instead of relying on an outside party to meet processing needs, Slagel can more efficiently meet the needs of all customers in a timely manner. Slagel Family Meats products are delivered to high end restaurants as well as to your table.
The meat products at Slagel Family Meats are processed naturally. Most Slagel products are flash frozen to ensure the product retains the highest level of quality without using artificial additives or preservatives. Slagel Family Meats is located about five miles from Slagel Family Farm which helps keep livestock calm and relaxed due to such a short amount of time in transit.
