Fairbury Farms is a group of family farms located in the neighborhood of Fairbury, Illinois. Fairbury Farms began when Slagel Family Farm’s demand grew in their restaurant and grocer sales and needed to expand. As it takes a lot of time to care for and raise livestock, and not wanting to get too large, they chose to partner with neighboring farmers. Slagel has hand-picked family farm operations who focus on sustainable and natural farming practices and raise their animals to the specifications required by the Slagel family. They do not use growth hormones, steroids, or other growth enhancers, and feed primarily an organic based diet of grain, forage and pasture grasses. You can feel confident that the products from Fairbury Farms meet a very high standard of quality.
All of Fairbury Farms livestock is processed and hand cut at a USDA processing facility (Slagel Family Meats) just 5 miles from Fairbury to reduce the overall carbon footprint and minimize the animal stress during transportation. The products prepared at Slagel Family Meats are processed naturally and delivered fresh or fresh frozen in a blast freezer to ensure the product retains the highest level of quality without using artificial additives or preservatives.
